Our location
Location and Region
This location is situated in a characteristic building on the Van Baerlestraat in the beautiful Oud-Zuid, a stone's throw from Museumplein. After a complete renovation, we will open our doors on October 1, 2025. Our baby group is located on the ground floor and the vertical group is in the basement.
Group rooms
The baby group is designed for children between 3 months and 2 years old. During this stage, children undergo important development, and we offer them the space to calmly explore the world. They can also crawl or take their first steps when they are ready. There is ample space for babies lying down to safely observe the moving children from a distance. For crawling and walking babies, there are climbing and clambering equipment.
The vertical group features various areas, including a home corner, a building corner, a green corner, a number and letter corner, and a studio space. These areas are distributed throughout the spaces to stimulate children's play and enjoyment. Tailored to their age and developmental level, the children are encouraged to play in small groups, where they discover and develop new skills through play.
The furniture at this location is all child-sized. We have low tables and chairs, as well as low toy cabinets. This allows children to reach and put things away themselves. We do this to encourage children's autonomy and independence, a unique and important aspect of this location.
Experiencing nature and sustainability also play a significant role at our location. We primarily use natural materials and actively incorporate them into our activities. This way, children learn about sustainable practices in a playful way from an early age.
Outdoor spaces
We have a new, exciting garden where the children can enjoy the fresh air. Our various play areas are made of natural materials and there's plenty of space for free play.

Our core values
Children are unique individuals; they are strong, talented, and have a natural drive for self-development. They are curious and explore the world at their own level, at their own pace, and according to their own abilities and character.
De Kleine Wereld offers the child a complementary environment at home and at school. It is therefore crucial that we arrange the child's care in consultation with the parents. We offer an environment full of possibilities. With us, the child experiences different things and develops partly through contact with other children and adults. All this makes the care at De Kleine Wereld an essential part of education.
